Is the 36" Drain the Right Size for Your Shower?

Create a seamless, wall-to-wall shower floor with no visible tile strip at either side or the back wall. Standard linear drains sit a few inches off the wall, leaving a strip of tile that must be custom-cut, bonded, or floated to match the floor. The DUFR-TF eliminates that strip for a cleaner shower design.

Back Wall Return Flange vs Three-Side Flange – Which One Do You Need?

The DUFR Series is available in two flange configurations, both for 1/8" to 3/8" thick wall tiles:

• Three-Side Return Flange – For showers with walls on the back and both sides. The drain spans the full width of the shower and is enclosed on three sides.
• Back Wall Return Flange Only – Installs against the back wall without return flanges on the ends. Ideal for curbed or curbless showers where the drain has open space at one or both ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does this drain need to touch both side walls?

Yes. If your shower doesn't have walls on both sides, choose the Back Wall Return Flange Only version. The same applies to shower benches: if the bench runs the full width between both side walls, the front of the bench acts as the back wall and this three-side version works. If the bench has open space at either end, choose Back Wall Return Flange Only. Either way, the bench must be framed so the drain can be secured to the studs.

2. My shower is a non-standard size. Can I get a custom linear drain?

Yes. If your measurement falls outside the standard sizes, request a custom dimension using the "Request Custom Size" option. Custom configurations are also available, including side outlet, horizontal side outlet, and 316-grade stainless steel options. Contact us for more information.

3. How do I stop mold and gunk from building up behind my shower drain?

That buildup usually comes from the narrow tile strip and extra grout lines between a standard linear drain and the wall, where water sits and soap scum collects. This drain installs flush against the walls, so there's no strip and fewer grout joints to trap dirt. The removable grate and included hair strainer make cleaning quick.
